How to Write Business Concepts
Solid Business Concepts » How to Write Business Concepts
Though your writing style will differ from another entrepreneur’s writing style, the basic elements remain the same. Basic questions to ask yourself are:
- What will you sell?
- Who will buy what you are selling?
- What advantage will you have over your competitors?
With these questions in mind, let us get to the task of writing the concept.
Steps to Develop Business Concepts
Take the answers to the basic questions and flesh them out:
- Talk about the organization (for example, for-profit or not-for-profit), its location, as well as short-term and long-term goals.
- Explain how the products or services you will offer collectively answer a need, and what will differentiate you from your competitors.
- Continue by analyzing the market that will include your organization, and by identifying who will buy your products and services.
Once you flesh out the answers, write a few pages with the following sections:
- Cover Page, identifying your company name and contact information.
- Introduction, which is a summary of the business concept.
- Identification of the problem in the market.
- Presentation of your business as the answer to the problem.
- Goals with timelines where applicable.
Write each business concept section thoroughly, and support applicable sections with examples. Write the sections in whatever order makes sense, though it may be easiest to write the introduction section last. Just be sure your business concept paper flows as a continuous document that will entice potential partners or investors.
